Today my oldest child graduates from high school. I had an appointment with T last night and we talked a lot. I mentioned that it feels odd as I figured I would be that parent that would cry all the time..yet I haven't. I have been so busy that I haven't had time to let my emotions take over.
She told me she figured in the next few weeks as it gets closer to kiddo going to college. She would probably schedule me every day (with a laugh of course) and she expected that I would need to email her a lot and she is okay with that. This morning I woke up to a very sweet email from T about enjoying today.

Been there. It's not easy but eventually you adjust, it just takes time.

My (late) mother used to say that instead of thinking about how OLD you are, think about how YOUNG you are, to still have a grandchild who hasn't attended college, yet. My mother was 36 and my father, 51, when I was born, and they said it kept them young to have a child so young. I should mention that my sister is 11 years older than I am, and my brother was 7 years older.
