I am not sure I am ready to open myself up totally for therapy but 12 stepping isn't working for me and I prefer a one-on-one session and can fully vent out my issues with building a trust relationship.
My P-doc has suggested a nice therapist woman in her office group and I was wondering what I need to be mentally prepared to talk about in the first introductory meeting with the the therapist. I have had a long youthful past of hard drug abuse like LSD, still smoke weed occasionally and consider it to be part of my medication and wish I lived in a medicinal state but the friggin commonwealth of Virginia hasn't changed yet. Anybody got some suggestions as to what to be prepared to answer and open up and explain how i got sick and that's been since 1997. Positive input and friendly suggestions welcome. I don't take stress in life well. Much Peace, ![]()

You don't have to completely open up at the first or the fifth or even the 20th appointment.

she will probably have questions for you in the first session. only share what you are comfortable in sharing. you don't have to deliver your whole story in the first session. I would be prepared with your major concerns first and what goals you hope to achieve through therapy. take care.

The wounded soul is like an onion. You have to peel off one layer at a time.
