I don't know about South Africa except that it's a thoroughly modern area and probably has public resources in your area. (I'm from USA) I would suggest getting on-line and typing in your particular area where you live, and type in "Psychotherapist". Here, at least, there are all kinds of resources, some of them county clinics, some sliding scale, where they take your financial information and either charge according to your income, or is free. It's really unfortunate when people want treatment and can't get it, but I would certainly research what's available there. At least you will know. Make some phone calls to some Psychology or Psychiatrist numbers and ask what might be available for you. Some receptionists won't know a shred, but some really come through. It's so worth trying to find a way!

If there is a university near by, sometimes they have clinics - you could check if it is like that in your country.

Could you call a T and ask if they know of anything that you could afford? They might have some resources for you.

You might look at Psychotherapy.co.za - I only looked at it briefly so I don't know how many therapists are listed there, but a few anyway.
The University of Witwatersrand has a community therapy clinic with no or reduced fees: Psychotherapy clinic - Wits University I really hope you will find a therapist you can afford, and who is a good match for you. |

I've seen quite a few psychologists in South Africa when you google psychologists in other countries.

I'm not sure what your budget is like, but I do know there are some online therapy services that are more reasonable than going in person for a typical therapist.
This service offers an unlimited chat feature with an eight week CBT oriented course of therapy, which you can repeat or build on after the first two months. If you sign up for their email list, the cost drops (with the coupon they send a few days later) to $200 total for the eight weeks. http://www.online-therapy.com/ This site offers more traditional talk therapy (open ended) for $29 a week if you pay in advance, or $40 if you pay week to week. https://www.betterhelp.com/faq/# There are lots of others too. Online therapy isn't for everyone, but I love it and it can be more affordable in some cases, though I encourage you to check with local counseling schools, churches if you're religious, and see about finding interns or providers offering a sliding scale. |
