i think it's okay to give yourself a break with all of this. you just started therapy so you are a newbie at it. that is totally okay and you won't know how to do it all right away. shoot, some of us (me) never figured it out! i bet your voicemail was just fine. try to be kind to yourself. it's obvious you are trying and have already made great progress in your life.

You can be proud of yourself for all you have done already ( drugs, alcohol) and not mad! If your T can't see it that is a shame. You learned coping skills during your trauma that worked for you to protect you. Your therapist diagnosed this and now she expects you what? Drop it after 5 sessions and be all new? She is crazy … she should be helping you to gain trust to learn new healthier coping skills etc. and not expect you to be able to switch something that worked for you all these years off with a snap of your fingers. Not possible !
You sure don't need to feel bad about it or guilty. That is the last thing you need. Maybe next time tell her you need help rather then rejection. I got quite angry on your behalf and that is something haha. Wish you best of luck on your journey and let's hope your T had bad day and is going to be more patient and understanding in the future. |

Sorry if I'm still really really confused as to what took place. It sounds like she ended early because she found your behavior (manic) erratic maybe? Some T's will immediately end a session if they think you came in intoxicated. Maybe you need to be clear that it was mania.

I too, would find it invalidating for T to end the session early. |

Thank you, maybe I will print it off and bring it just incase I get my brave face on and ask her if I can share it.

I have bipolar and I've come in plenty of times gitty, and "high" not once did my former therapist end early. If anything she went over trying to calm me and get me to take my prn. It really bothers me she would leave you during this time. She seemed aggravated to do the government paperwork.
