I've only have ever missed one session with T in the months, and that was when I was in the hospital. Tonight I was supposed to go in at 7 like always, and I ended up just sleeping through it. She called me and left a message, but I didn't check it and I didn't call back since I didn't wake up until 9. I feel horrible. I hate missing any type of appointment, esp without notice. I'm going to call her tomorrow and tell her what happened.

Aww! I am sorry! I'm sure she will understand, though.

I hope so. I had a bad night the night before physically, and kept waking up during the night with contractions. Then had to sit through 5 hours of lecture today. Needless to say, I was exhausted!

awww, I did that once. The response wasn't great because I woke up right when the appointment was supposed to start, and called, and said that I couldn't make it. And my T didn't know that I didn't have a car, and got mad because she thought I could just drive over there and be a little late. Well it turned out that she wasn't a very good T so I expect that a good T would be understanding. Maybe you can go latter in the week if she has space?

I'm sorry; I know that sucks. It happened to me once. I had flown in on a red eye the night before, which was several hours delayed. There was also a five hour time change. So, between the lack of sleep and her lag, I slept right through my appointment the next morning. Luckily, my T was very understanding and I was able to come in again a few days later.
Thanks for this!

It's okay...I have done that once before...T was frustrated at the time, but once I explained, he was understanding.

T's know we are human with normal human circumstances.

(I have also slept through a dentist appointment and an important meeting at work.....if that helps with perspective)

My former t and I had switch appointment times once because of her scheduling. I had forgotten to set an alarm to remind me, and I hadn't paid attention to my phone altering me to the appointment. I was bopping around doing art and being bored when she called. I had no excuse, but she was understanding (hadn't missed an appointment without calling in the year I had seen her). Stuff happens sometimes... hope you can get in to see her as needed, and hope you can get some rest.
Thanks for this!

Thank you all. I called and left a message telling her what happened and that I'll see her next week.

They understand.
I do it frequently. Sometimes T tells me it is "resistence" and I say "no, its exhaustion."
Since you wanted to go, it makes it harder to miss your session. I hope she calls you back or at least checks in next session.
Thanks for this!

i missed two sessions. one i just got the times mixed up and the second i was trying to quit therapy so even though i showed up out of habit, I did not go inside. but T saw me pull me and was pissed beyond words that i refused to come inside. so she canceled my next two appointments saying she needed to think about it, after i asked if i could come back.
Thanks for this!

Hey, tell her youre just practicing, that when the baby takes a nap, you do too!

I cancelled my appt yesterday half an hour before cuz it was too hot - the heat index was like 100. We're only human!
Thanks for this!

Haha, that's a good one, thanks!

She's been good at understanding everything that I've been going through, so I'm sure she'll understand.

Gosh, my problem is rescheduling things. I get so messed up on my calendar. I think T's are used to some of this on occasion. We all have issues and aren't perfect...that's why we're with a T.
