As much as I need this and the help, tomorrow is my appointment with a t and I'm so nervous. I'm scared it'll come up to my appointment time and I won't be able to go. I sought him out because he had psychosis listed under his issues. I can't miss it. But my brain. I don't know what to do or think right now. I can't even imagine how I'm going to feel in session.

Blah. It feels like my chest is caving in on me.

(((A18793715)))

Take a couple of deep breaths (all the way down into your tummy). It's ok. Remember, this guy is ON YOUR SIDE. He wants to help you... or he wouldn't be doing this.

Being nervous is totally normally (I think someone posted a stat on here once about how many people cancel first appointments - it was alot!). It's totally ok to be nervous! But, you can do this.

I know you were worried about what you were going to say, especially if he asks "so what brings you in today". Do you have any ideas for that? Maybe you could write something up, so you don't have to worry about forgetting when you get there?

And, no matter what happens... just getting yourself there is an accomplishment. You can be proud of that! (Though sometimes planning a little treat for afterwards isn't a bad idea either).

Hang in there... you can do it!

I know it can be difficult, I have had a number of first sessions in the last year or so and I have been nervous before every one of them.

Hey, what you're feeling is very normal. You can do it!

I know this isn't the right kind of "mantra" for everyone, but I tell myself that I have nothing to lose by going, but much to gain potentially.
