Totally heart broken .. my therapist dumped me 6 weeks ago saying it was too much for him to handle to be a therapist; he left his practice and took the promotion he was offered as Dept Chair at the Psych Dept of the university he teaches at.. seems a bit strange right there -- he is supposed to stand for the field of Psychology as a Dept Chair but is abandoning his practice and his clients. I keep hoping he comes back. Been trying to find another therapist but having terrible luck; the last 2 therapists actually felt I was terminated too early and that I needed to work through remaining issues with the therapist that dumped me. It wouldnt hurt so much if I wasnt dumped by his predecessor -- the former Dept Chair of that Dept who left the university and the state to pursue another job. So I've been dumped twice by therapists from that university. This was a private practice - not university related BTW; they were working out of a private counseling office. I have tried to get closure but was so devastated by his termination (despite multiple emails where he stated he wasnt leaving me) and couldnt face the pain of knowing he was going to leave. He wont respond to my emails.

Yeah, I'm leaving mine because she just can't quite fill the needs I have. I'm going to miss her. She's my first and has helped me a ton. It will take a minute, no doubt, to get used to not seeing her every week. I guess I kind of hope I run into her at the grocery store or something, but not really. That might be awkward.

I am so sorry. I was also abandoned by a therapist. I totally don't understand why. It is a devastating experience. I will never trust like that again. I hope you can work through this somehow and that the pain will lessen.
I think it is very, very unethical of him. Very cruel. |

 ((Siren))I can understand how upset you are. But if your T belated realises he is not cut out for front line therapy, that's no reflection on you. Maybe he's a bad therapist, but if so, quitting was the right thing to do.
