I asked my T why does he say nice things to me. His response was the same reason you do for others. Then said more nice things about how I have in spite of my upbringing figured out how to be a warm caring person that seemly derives considerable satisfaction in serving other's needs. I work in direct patient care in the healthcare industry, and love everything about my work.
Also mentioned that he enjoys watching me squirm. Totally not a serious reply. Very much lighthearted. We often throw jabs back and forth as humor is one of my defense mechanisms. |

Sometimes better then others. He remains constant, but my perception changes.

My at doesn't say nice things to me which I'm thankful for, perhaps it wouldn't feel helpful to me?

Perhaps? It still makes me uncomfortable, but am doing much better with seeing the intent behind it.

I hadn't thought about the 'intent', I really like what you wrote.

I tend to respond very suspiciously to kindness. Like I'm about to be taken advantage of. I'm learning that this may not be the case all the time. Maybe I'm not so much in danger anymore.
