I want to talk to my T about the length of our sessions. They have ranged from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. It feels like she cuts off early if she feels like we aren't getting anywhere. Also she has been running late the last few weeks but then seems to cut my time short to get herself back on schedule. It has gotten frustrating because I believe the sessions are supposed to be 60 minutes. How can I get the nerve to bring this up to her? How can I bring it up tactfully? I just hate conflict.

I would just ask her how long her sessions are, and document the times with the dates on your sessions going forward.

That's weird. It is not a strange question to ask at all. Tell her how uncomfortable it makes you not knowing and you'd prefer starting and stopping on time.

It's not unusual for "hour" sessions to actually run for anywhere from 45-55 minutes. The T uses the other minutes to write case notes. (And go to the bathroom, get a cup of coffee etc) If you're concerned, it would be good to clarify it with her.

I'd ask her. If she reacts badly, then I don't think she is doing her job.

You could approach it from a non-attack position of "I was just wondering how long your sessions are usually for? I notice that we range from x to x and I thought I'd ask so I'd have a better idea of when to expect the session to end."

My sessions are "supposed" to be 45mins. But we no longer stick to that. She's usually about 3mins late, but she spends about 50-55mins with me.
