As some of you know, my original T and I had some up and down sessions. At times I knew she cared, but other times I felt like I was talking to a brick wall. She didn't ask a lot of questions while I was speaking which I thought was kind of odd. I want to engage in conversation with a T. She did not allow emails/hugs/any kind of physical connection.

Anyways, the new T seemed very nice. The whole time, she asked questions about what I was talking about in which I appreciated. It is hard to tell if a T is genuine or not on your first session, so I am going to see my old T at least 2 more times just to make sure I am making the right jump. She does not email (boo). She said she isn't a big hugger who hugs people every session, but she will give hugs or pats on the back when asked if sometimes it gets rough. I really respect that.

She is pretty young (probably my age, 29-30). Are younger T's worse than older T's?

I got a good vibe off of this T, but won't get my hopes up yet. I am still jealous that people on here get to email, even text! their T's.

I'm glad new t is giving a goood vibe.
I have not personally found an age correlation to being "good", but I appreciate experience, or access to a competant supervisor.
Thanks for this!

Hey, good luck, well done for taking that step!
I onLy email if I need to, probably twice of three times in a year... I think a lot of therapists don't encourage email. It can encourage dependency from the client, it encroaches on T's private time, and it raises issues about payment. So don't be too downhearted if its not an option.
Just a thought, have you considered trying out a male t? Might make it easier to avoid transference stuff...xx

Thanks for your comments. I just have an easier time opening up to female T's for some reason or another. It is easier for me to open up my problems with my friends who are female other than my very best friends who are mostly male.

MrPink I've been following your posts with interest. I'm 9 months in with my first ever T and find she's variable. Sometimes really focused and caring and available with regards to scheduling and other times just "phoning it in." If she saw how she came off probably it would embarrass her. Plus she seems to really need the money, wanting to see me twice a week even though I'm coping better. Um, no. Not good.

So one of my New Year's resolutions may be interviewing some other T's thru sessions and seeing if there's anyone better in my area. "Maybe" because a resolution I can't/don't keep depresses me the whole year! Going thru transference with another T may kill me though. Mine can be so appealing it's like a drug to go to sessions. With a big crash n burn afterwards!

Please keep posting as you have time/inclination. It's helpful to read how others are going about this

Okay, I seen my original T today, things were brought up many times in which I feel like no progress was made. I really don't know how to say goodbye to this T. At times, I felt like she was great, but other times I just feel like we keep going over the same stuff. I have a 2nd appt with my new T on Monday, and my current T on Tuesday. I think I might say goodbye then, but I really don't know how. I care about this T, I will hate to end it, but I just feel like I am wasting my time. It sucks.
