Hey Gang! I hope everyone had a good holiday and your new year is off to a good start. My life has been insane. Not only is work really busy, my mother was in rehab for a broken bone. While at the rehab place, she got an infection that the nurses missed and then when they found it, they told the doctor it was pretty urgent, but he did not order antibiotics until AFTER she went septic and nearly died. Even after the first infection started to resolve, she was still on the brink of death due to a different infection that escalated as the other resolved. She is finally out of the hospital, in a new rehab place, but has some new infection and weird stuff happening with her electrolyte levels.

Meanwhile, my sisters, both of whom are on the power of attorney (I am not on it), are trying to force me into taking care of everything with my mother. They are simply not showing up to check on her, but keep texting me asking for updates. So. It has been difficult trying to maintain boundaries when I know that if I do not act, she will die. Then I fantasize about smothering her with a pillow, so I'm not sure why I am trying to prevent her dying from infection or lack of sodium in her blood.

MKAC - sorry to hear. It sounds quite stressful.

Another day hiding in the house. It is too cold to go out and the roads are a disaster. I hate feeling cooped up in the house. It'll likely be another couple days before the roads are in better shape.

Wish me luck. I did something different with my baby girl's care today... Last time I tried it it didn't work out. Hoping for the best this time.

You best get them washed then. I am trying to finish up all the laundry today. Should be able to catch up. I hate having such a backlog.

It is the technical term lol. Anyone who has experienced snot freezing would understand.

We get temps like that too but further into January and February. *sigh* I don't leave the house unless I must and I just glare and glare outside.

When we moved to the godforsaken tundra, I finally understood that line in the The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - always winter, but never Christmas. That's how it feels after the New Year until spring thaw.

We have temps like this starting in November. It snows right up until mid June here as well. In my time here I have experienced snow in every month of the year except July... So far.

The snow starts in October and doesn't melt until March or April. Then it keeps snowing off and on for a few months, but the snow melts inbetween so it's not so bad.

We had a few really nice days with about -15°C a week ago or so. Now it's back to +2 and rain.

I don't mind rain. Just a bit though. Not all day every day.

Yeah, I don't like our little tundra here, no way could I handle that set up. We're trying to move but it's all based on the husband's job. And we want to be a little choosey on where we go. Since he has a decent job, it's not like we're desperate, but we do recognize we have to go for my mental health. The winter just makes things worse for me.

We generally get first snow fall in mid-late November and it hangs around until March-May depending on the year. Thankfully the earliest I've experience snow where I'm at is in Oct. and the latest was May. Though I've heard the conditions of where I live mean that it could snow any month but July or something.

I hope I never find out O.O

Sounds very similar to here. lol. I'm just used to it.

I doubt we will ever move. We need to stay close to the hospital where my daughter goes for her check ups. Very few have a doctor that specializes in what she has.

This year we had a huge snowstorm on the first week of September. It was a **** ton of snow.

MKAC... sorry to hear your mother is still not well. It sounds like you are in a catch-22.

Your sisters don't check on her so you do and because you do your sisters don't check on her. Definitely a rough spot to be in.

It is so pretty outside. The sun reflecting off the snow. The trees all have a subtle frost beard. If it wasn't snot freezing cold I may have got my camera out and gone for a walk. Sigh.

Isn't that the plot from "The Shining"?

Suddenly I'm really happy about living in the low desert. Give me three months of 110+ over six months of below freezing tyvmCouch 83: In a world where...

It takes a few seasons to get used to it, but I'm acclimatized now. So much so that I've been frozen with the cold for the past week - it's dipping down into the high 40s at night...
