I will not be seeing my T until the middle of May. No T

She undergoes surgery Thursday to remove the tumor then will start chemo/radiation.

I'm literally sick to my stomach over this.

A friend of 34 years died this December and T has been helping me bounce back from that.

My mother's health is in jeopardy and we are seeking a second opinion to see if her cancer has returned.

It just seems like everything was crashing down anyway and then the news of T came, and now it's real.

Ugh. Argh. Sigh. No T

Edited to change March to May

I'm so sad for you, Petunia. My appendix burst and I wasn't able to see my T for a long while too during a very stressful time for me and had to miss several sessions for 4-5 months. I just stored up all the "stories" to tell her when I saw her. I still use her advice when we terminated a year or two later, "Just keep putting one foot in front of the other." :-)

I hope everything goes well with her surgery, chemo, and treatment. One of my best friends is a psychotherapist and had breast cancer and she's quite fine now 10-15 years later.

A book that might help you feel better (I find it very warm and hopeful) is Rachel Naomi Remen's Kitchen Table Wisdom. It's one of my favorite books I've ever read.

I feel for you my one special therapist was treated for cancer several times while I was her pt. Eventually, she died from it. It is a difficult thing to go through. It sounds like you have a lot going on in your life. I feel for you.

Hello Petunia.
I am very sorry that you are feeling so overwhelmed at this time. Perhaps Journaling or joining a support group would help you at this time, to help offset the overwhelmed feeling you are having at this time. If you do choose to journal, it is not quite like a therapy session, but it will at least allow you to say and write things that you are feeling, that you would have told your therapist at the seeion that you would have had with your therapist. Journaling may also give you some insight into what you would like to talk about with your therapist in the future, when you see your therapist again. Take care I hope things get better soon, hoping the best for your therapist as well. Soidhonia

So sorry Petunia. Will you be able to speak with her over the phone at all over this time?

I'm sorry again.

I can call and leave a message and she'll call me back like always.

She offerred to do phone sessions but I told her to concentrate on her health but that I would call if I was in crisis.

I felt it was selfish of me to expect/ask her to "take care" of me during her own issues.

My issues have been reduced drastically in comparison to "the big picture."

((((((((( Pet )))))))))

I know I can't understand exactly because my counselor is off for a month due to surgery, not cancer. My heart goes out to you both.

I never realized how lonely I would feel knowing she's not in her office when I drive by it.

Hugs,

Jan
