Who has seen this yet?
For me this video totally nails the confusion, the battles, the trying to live on your wits, of growing up with that unpredictability in your childhood. All the stuff that can lead to your attachment being f#cked and disorganized. Sia's father had significant mental health problems, and the song is about her experience of the love and the pain of their relationship.

Interesting video. I love her music, and that song in particular is one of my favorites. I will have to read the lyrics again. I got disorganized attachment from it, but I was thinking it was in relation to something else. Hmm.
thanks again for posting it. (Also, not really sure what all the controversy over that video is about. Yes, it's very emotional, but not more disturbing than so much stuff out there...) |

I didn't look at the video but I asked my T what she thought about my attachment style in therapy (got the question from here.)
She answered, "insecure." |

![]() I think my interpretation when I said disorganized attachment was, this was adult Sia looking at the wasteland of her lovelife, possibly after another hard break up, and then reflecting back to her childhood and realizing how she was affected by her father's instability. Quote:

I loved that song. It always seemed like such an anthem of emotional strength.
But*WOW. I did not know that about Sia's father. the video seemed unduly 'edgy' until I understood the context. Now I can't watch that video without tears in my eyes. Thank you for this. |
