T and I have talked briefly about my disassociation but not in great detail. During our last session, at one point T asked me in the middle of our conversation something like "Are you here right now?" or "Have you been here the whole time?" Does this mean that something about me gave him the impression that I was disassociating at that time? I answered that I was there and we moved on.

I will ask T this during the next session but wanted to get input here since this has been on my mind. I'm wondering if Ts usually ask this only when client looks like they're disassociating.

Sounds pretty normal to me. I used to dissociate constantly. Yes, T would check with me to see if I was with him. If not, he'd work to help me ground myself and be more present. It was par for the course for me. I rarely do it anymore though.
Thanks for this!

If it was in the midst of the conversation around dissociation, he may have been checking ot see if he missed anything. If it was outside of that conversation, but on a difficult topic, he may have picked up on changes.
I have had T's ask me where I go, or where I am in the moment. Usually it's in response to me "looking like [I've] gone far away", slowing my speach, speaking very quietly, or no longer responding to T/delayed response/confusion when T asks something...

Madame T used to say, "Where did you go?" I wasn't exactly dissociating but I did sometimes "withdraw". Which creates a powerful impression that I am not listening.

Do you know what about you gave her the impression that you're withdrawing? Was it something about body posture/facial expression? Or something you said?

The first one I see cannot usually tell if I go away. The second asks if it is happening and has asked me to tell her when I feel it begin.

I used to withdraw a lot before I had therapy. My boss said it looked like I wasn't listening.
