I have to leave in 25 minutes to go be social for 3-4 hours. I really don't feel like it. Not that I ever feel like being social, but I really don't feel like it right now. I think I will see if I can get away with wearing sweat pants.

Here are some interesting photos of therapy offices. I posted it once before - but they have added more to the collection.

I love those photos Stopdog! Some shrinks/rooms are truly crazy looking.

Shrinks must have their own special Skymall for floor to ceiling bookshelves. My longtime therapist has those and they tend to loom over the entire room.

The dominatrix looking one and the guy with sandals are unsettling to me. And the woman who looks possessed holding the dog.

YES! I was thinking that too. The lady in all black and rather sharp boots was intimidating, and lots of crazy nana looking T's with overdecorated rooms. (Why do T's tend towards clutter?)

I find myself having instant opinions of those in the slideshow-- The greek dude with the handlebar mustache looked like fun if not a little crazy; The guy lying on his own couch was handsome but somehow strikes me as a jerk; and anyone with creepy dollies would be first off my consideration list.
Thanks for this!

I decided to post the link on its own thread.
I rejected all the men immediately and most of the women. I did look at their pictures before calling the ones I made appointments with. Anyone with toys or animals or whimsy were off the potential list. And any who were not oldish women.

Mine is nothing like any of those. Though my house is cluttered, I would no like to meet in a cluttered office. I need straight lines & perfect patterns or I obsess on that crap. Once my T's socks were not right, I don't remember what was wrong, but he fixed them for me because he knows that I would have difficulty focusing otherwise. He has also straightened the blinds for me & turned the clock around so I don't focus on the time.

I have asked my T to fix the cuffs on his pants a number of times. He asked to fix my collar once because it was bugging him. Hahaha
Thanks for this!

The guy on his own couch - that was the reaction i had to him, AND to photos of my current t in a local magazine. But the accompanying article / interview made me want to not hold his appearance against him. I forced myself to accept that i liked him in spite of the fact that he looked like Robert Redford. Tough job, but someone has to do it

But his office is more like sandals guy. He likes those patterned rugs and sharp blond wood.

OMG...those pictures have convinced me I definitely couldn't see an older man...there was 2 in the pictures that had...backless sofas or they look like beds.... My anxiety is through the roof... I had to do some deep breathing before I could even type this... Super super creepy!

I could never lie back even in a recliner type chair... Escape would be inhibited or at least delayed...

Interesting Stopdog. I notice many have a chaise lounge/sofa type seat. I thought lying down for therapy went out of style years ago.

I did like the nerdy T playing a guitar. Anyone with a sense of humor without being bats hit is ok with me. T's that don't smile or crazy nanna T's are off the list.

Sad, but I only had a positive reaction to a handful of these. I usually don't see female T's but I did have a good vibe about the lady with long curly gray/white hair and the tasteful office.

Thanks for asking, Ready! I am still ill and missed part of the day at the college. I felt lucky to see part of it. It is an all female school and I was expecting a fairly homozygous group. There was a wider range of young women than I expected so I was pleasantly surprised. D is spending the night on campus so we are having a lazy evening at a hotel nearby. I bought some wine but it is disgusting so we are eating chocolate and watching tv and I am drawing. My T periodically suggests that I start drawing again so I finally took his advice. It has been really nice and relaxing.

How is your weekend going? Is your oldest enjoying college?
Thanks for this!

I hope your daughter gets a good feel for the school with this overnight.

My weekend is so so...I have to work tomorrow so it's almost over. My son has never handled change well so he's adjusting.

I didn't know you enjoyed drawing... What do you like to draw?

My niece attended Texas Women's University. Great school and actually not all women. There are even a few guys who live in the dorms (not many). Lots of individuality and a great education. She loved it. A significant portion of the grad and doctoral programs are men. In fact, my T obtained his doctorate for TWU.

Mindfulness is amazing, i've gtried emdr, exposure therapy and visualisation. My t sent me home with a breathing mindfulness and sriously i am a lot less anxious.i used jump out on skin at loud noises, i freaked out severely when butterfly flew in my face.i felt stupid to be lying throwing my arms around all because a butterfly one of the most deadliest animals on earth flew in my face.
My reactionstoned down sooo much.

Now to read the rest of the couch

I don't consider what I do as mindfulness ( I hate vacuous insipid terms like that) but I do find Qi Gong breathing exercises and meditation useful.

My objection is more to the word mindfulness rather than the idea of paying attention to what you do.

My pathological fear of butterflies just made me cringe! I must have had a bad experience with beautiful winged insects during my formative years, I can't figure out WHY I'm so scared of them.

Glad you found something that helps, BPA, how does it work?

SD thanks for the link to T's office photos, some truly freaked me out. One lady with weird hollows around her collarbone made me want to feed her a sandwich. One man looked so frail and wise sort of like my pdoc. Also not digging the chaise lounge/bed decorating idea. Think I'll skip those in the future!
