I have been meaning to ask T if she prints out my emails and saves them in my chart. I will have to ask her.

What do you think your T does with your emails and/or letters?

I don't know but I would ask if concerned. The one I see may save what I have written, but she certainly does not pay any attention to what I have written because she always seems surprised when I say it to her directly in person.

I've never asked. I don't think it would affect me either way.

I know I once brought in a journal entry and I know it is in my file still. I can have it back at any time.

I know there are emails of mine that T saves in a "JaneTennison1" folder in her emails. She has told me before she will delete them if I ask but I feel when I send them they are hers. I might change my mind at the end and she'd be ok with that.

The admin staff prints the email and shows my pdoc or T. After that they're filed with my chart.
Thanks for this!

She told me awhile back that she keeps my emails in a folder in her inbox that's named "artemis-within". I keep all of hers the same way. Paper stuff I used to give her when I saw her in person, all my dreams and active imaginations I used to bring with me, are all in a physical folder.

eta: I just looked at it. I have 77 emails from her, going back to 11/1/12 right around the time she moved. Yes, I feel a little pathetic about that fact, the fact that I saved them all.

Wow. I will also have to ask her if anyone else reads them or has access to them.

I will ask her. The reason it may affect me...I may need a medical procedure in the future....and I don't want those doctors deciding not to do it based on my crazy emails.

I know she has saved a handwritten transcript of my voice mail, but I think she deletes the emails from the server and computer and may only save what she wants to refer back to (which is probably none to not much).

I highly doubt that she prints them and puts them in my file. It wouldn't bother me if she does-- I just don't think she goes through the time and effort. I don't see what purpose it would serve.

One former T did print and keep all emails, but this one does not keep anything (I think I may have freaked her out when I freaked at seeing my artwork up in the agency hallway even though I had given them permission to keep it and use it as they wished). She always tells me that she would normally ask to copy the stuff I hand her to read, but that she "knows how it freaks [me] out to have [my] stuff around" so she doesn't keep anything. My previous T at this agency did not print out or keep anything I wrote to her (at least she didn't tell me about it, nor did I see evidence of it in the chart when she showed it to me).

definitely ask your T. some will keep them, others will not.

My T saves all my emails in a digital folder. My physical folder got too big Only she has access to it unless of course I give consent for someone else to have or for legal reasons she is required to produce them. Her notes for sessions are minimal and usually says "refer to email", so the insurance company doesn't even have access. There are 2 emails I sent her where I disclosed some extremely confidential issues. I asked her to not keep those emails, and she promised she didn't.

My t prints out all my emails and puts them in my file. I know this because she told me. I'm not sure about letters, because the only letter I have ever given her was for her. I would be surprised if that was in my file, because it was meant as a gift to her. But if I wrote her one as part of the therapeutic work, I'm sure that would be filed.

I saw him keeping my hand written letters in my file, he asked me can he keep it.
