I tried telling my therapist I feel disconnected after my sessions, like after I leave. I tend to miss him a lot. I tried telling him that but I kind of slipped through it without using the word "miss". I feel so lost between sessions and I catch myself worrying about him or if he would randomly drop me one day or we have to stop seeing each other for therapy.
Did you ever bring this up to your therapist? What did he or she do?

I don't know how I can tell him clearly. I told him how I missed my old therapist a lot, hoping he would catch the hint.

Yes, I think a lot of folks on this forum have experienced it.

With my T, I finally just told her that i struggle to hold on to our connection between sessions. She asked if emailing or texting in between sessions would help, and I agreed to give it a try. It does help, but I went in to it with the understanding that T's replies would be very brief and of the "I'm still here, got your message, we'll talk in session" type. T rarely gives more detailed replies in email or text...if she feels something needs to be addressed before the next session, she'll ask if she can call me.

Would some kind of in between session with your T be an option for you? Even if he just replies with "still here."

My ex therapist reassured me over and over that he would never drop me until the work was done, but he did in a horribly painful way. I don't think therapists should make those statements because no one can predict the future. They might have good intentions, but it sets up the client for more potential heartache.

I'm not sure if it's a feeling of disconnection, but I often feel bothered or uneasy about something she's said or that came up at the end. I seem to email either that same day or the next about it. It was surprising to me that she would email back, and with a full answer. It's always been enough for me to let go of for the rest of the week and obsess about real life things instead. Hopefully, I'll feel a need to do this less often, but she hasn't said anything about it being a problem.
