I started seeing a therapist a couple weeks ago. At last night's session, I wanted to talk about something that has been stressing me out lately, but unfortunately I started off on another issue, got off topic, and ran out of time before I could bring up what I originally wanted to. I feel like such an idiot for doing that. My T is going on vacation at the end of the week, and my next session not for another 10 days. However, this is something that's bothering me, and I am not looking forward to waiting that long without talking about it and getting some insight/advice. It's nothing serious, just an interpersonal issue, but it's got me on edge. Is it completely absurd to call the office and see if I can schedule another session tomorrow or the next day to talk about it?

I don't think that it is unreasonable to see if she has an appointment available. If it's stressing you out it would be better to go ahead and deal with it.

Not unreasonable at all - if there is an opening I say take it.

Yes, you can ask for an appointment anytime. They provide a service.

Not a problem, therapists get requests like that all the time. If he/she doesn't have room in his/her schedule for an extra session, try and ask for a short session by phone. That might just help you get through the next ten days.

There's no harm in asking. Though it might be too short notice for T to fit you in. Still worth trying though.

The one time I asked if another appointment was available in the same week - the woman was all weirdly happy about it.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask for another appointment.

I called the office (I have T cell number but feel shy calling) and ask if my t has any spots that day. They said she will call me back, she did and gave me time she was free and I went to see her. In fact it was a very next day after my regular appt
