I had supposed that my T and I would do some CBT exercises together, but in fact CBT is, in this case at least, something you do to yourself and it is something we refer back to from time to time as the need arises. Funny how that never occurred to me and I never asked for clarification.

Yes, they are skills to use constantly inside and out of therapy. My T taught me skills and referred to them as the need arose, but he wasn't one to do it constantly or in the form of worksheets or anything like that. Made good sense really. CBT skills are most helpful when you internalize them and they become habits of mind.

Ya, it's all about you learning a skill then using it. It's hard and takes time to become normal though.
