I get a weekly e-newsletter with opinion pieces from the New York Times, and today's edition had a piece by Will Lippincott entitled "No Longer Wanting to Die" in which he discusses his experience with DBT.

I hope you can access the link.
Thanks for this!

I think its a good article. Thanks for pointing it out.

Warning - the accompanying sketch at the top of it can be triggering. You would think they would know better. I havent read the comments yet, i hope somebody calls this to their attention.
Thanks for this!

Yikes! When I read the article this morning, my ancient laptop didn't load the illustration completely and I couldn't really tell what it was, but I just looked at it and that's one bleak drawing.
Thanks for this!

Yeah - maybe the artist should sign up for dbt. It has been commented on. Bleak is putting it mildly! Omg. Its practically a freakin how to. Im not usually overly sensitive to these kinds of things, but cheezits.

I thought this was very well written and I think the author expressed a lot of what I have experienced. I am finishing up almost two years of DBT (I did take a break between the first and second rounds) and I believe that it saved my life. I know that there is not a single therapy that fits all situations, but DBT really resonated with me. I also realize that there are a lot of therapists out there claiming to teach DBT, when in fact, it's not DBT. It is also a tremendous commitment in terms of time, energy and work...but for me, it has been worth it.
