Well, after 14 months of therapy I finally disclosed the secrets I had been keeping. My T was awesome and really gave me some good insight....stuff that really hit home.Felt understood.
I really thought it was my last appointment, instead its the start of hopefully something positive. Its so hard to talk about the really "bad"things.I think I need a Worlds Best "Avoider" medal.
Next session I want to talk about more stuff, let out even more, yet Im still scared.
Thanks for lending an ear.

Lol, how can I lend an ear when you're not talking yet....???

What kind of secrets are we talking about? I'll bet there are no surprises here...eh?

My post above was meant in good spirits.
But I forgot to respond to the gist of your post, so here goes:

What a relief to bare our souls and still be ok in the eyes of the beholder! To share our deepest darkest secrets and still be accepted, that is what true intimacy is about!

Yup, I agree, your t is awesome!

thats so awesome! i'm so proud of you. some stuff is hard huh. so hard. so very very hard. but it sounds like your t earned your trust and you were able to talk to her. i'm so glad that she responded in a way that you found helpful. sometimes i think that someone hearing our secrets... and responding well... really is the most healing thing of all.

i'm so glad you felt understood. i hear you saying that you feel scared too. it can be scary to take that risk and show your vulnerability by expressing some stuff that is hard. i'm sure you will feel a bit better when you see her again and see that yup she is still there. still ok. still there for you. ready to hear whatever you would like to share with her that time.

sounds like a huge leap forward with progress. well done for taking that risk. i'm so happy that it paid off for you :-)

It is both scarey and wonderful to be able to talk about the big stuff within us. I give you big points now on having taken that step. You were ready and I am glad that you were able to feel safe and heard. Now the work can move forward.

It really is exciting and having it out...is like making that elephant in the room... at least known by the two of you ...now you can deal with it. Hang in there.

Good work.
