Has anyone seen a psychiatrist in the Duluth area? I want someone who does not rush a person out the door, and actually takes the time to listen.

I do not know, but you might want to contact your insurance company and see if they list reviews of psychiatrists on their website, plus your insurance will pay for it.

I got a list of doctors in the area that work with my insurance, but they didn't say anything about reviews. I'm also finding that there is a really long wait to get in.

I live right in this area I currently see a psych nurse practitioner since my meds are pretty stable, but she's really nice.

I might have looked there already. Will look again. Thank you. Do you have horses?

I suppose I could do that eventually, but for right now I just want To get a prescription for something that might work for me from somebody who knows more about these things than a family doctor. I actually live in the U.P. of Michigan, but it is impossible to get in to see a psychiatrist here. Not sure I can in Duluth anytime soon either.

I am from Cloquet.

I don't think you can get something without seeing the provider first? Were you coming to the area to visit soon?

You are SO close to where I also live!

Only doctors can write prescriptions, so I have to see a doctor. I still go to Cloquet frequently since my Mother, brother and niece are there. I was hoping to combine an appointment with a visit next month.

Well, it looks like I can't get in to anyone who is affiliated with either St. Luke's or Essentia since I would have to have a referral from them. I am looking at Nystrom & Associates, but they are not actual doctors, although they apparently can prescribe medications under the supervision of doctors. Really not sure what to do.

Do you know if there are any psychiatrists in the area that are not affiliated with the hospitals?

I thought about this a while and did some snooping...a lot of places that used to have a psychiatrist on staff (that aren't a hospital) - don't offer that anymore. I am not sure why it is turned into that

I did find one guy that seems to practice on his own, but i can't imagine getting in to see him. He is an author, also, and he has several office locations.

Yes, there are 8 horses here. No Arabs at this time though.... I had a very special Arab whom I had to PTS three years ago, after having her for 26 years!

So sorry to hear that. I don't actually have any horses. I just don't ahve the time, money, or energy. I did have an Arab many years ago, though.
