The other thread put me in mind of this.

Except in highly unusual circumstances, your therapist has other clients. I see my therapists' other clients all the time while entering and exiting their offices. (Also their office-mates' clients.)

How do you feel about knowing/seeing other clients? Me, I people-watch. (Especially at No. 1's, since she's mainly marriage counseling, and I sometimes speculate how things are going between the clients I encounter.)

i used to live in a community with my Ts other clients. there werent that many that saw him because he was the clinical director of that treatment program. so i think that shaped how i view him seeing others. i dont really care or mind. my T has a private practice now and i am in a group with other clients of his that he runs. it doesnt bother me or make me jealous.

What are you talking about? Theres only me for him and him for me! yes there are some shadowy figures in the background sometimes, a little red haired girl - but those are just ghosts.

I consider it takes the pressure off of me. For every one of the sort like me that is a client, there are tens of others that adore her. That is enough adoration for anyone and I don't have to worry about it.

I rarely see any other client. I go in right on time and leave right on time and never, ever, go into the waiting room.

My T has a private practice out of his home and schedules clients in a way that I have never seen another client. I assume he has other clients, but I get to pretend it's just me!

How do you manage to achieve not going into the waiting room at all?

I walk into the building exactly on time or one minute late. The first one, for all her many flaws, is actually timely. Her office door is open and I walk in and shut the door behind me.

The second has a complicated entry system where you buzz them and she comes and opens the door to the building. I go exactly on time for that one too.

I have never seen any of Ts other clients but I know he sees a friend of mine, and I know he has a full calendar so there will be others, but I'm not bothered by it at all.

I really don't give it much thought. He's in a practice with quite a few pdocs and therapists, so there are always other people in the waiting room. Just another waiting room full of strangers like any other office as far as I see it.

T has a private practice, so I've never seen any other clients in the waiting room. I did run into another woman in the bathroom a couple of times. I always got a pang of jealousy when I saw her.

I don't guess I give you much thought. I don't guess I think much past myself. I rarely run into other clients and am too focused on why I'm there.

I'm not really a jealous person so it doesn't bother me from that angle. However, I am inordinately curious about them. Like, I really, really wish I could meet them and share stories. I want to know how other people see him. I very rarely run into his other patients as I usually see him after his lunch hour.

I expect she has other clients/patients. In fact it's preferable to me. Some of my therapy talk involves challenges I have with my own medical career. She can be a helpful resource through her experiences. As far as jealousy...no, that's never been an issue for me with her.

I feel warm, wonderful and great, because my T is the best and I want more people to enjoy her magic.

I secretly think of all her clients as fellow "T-fan-club members".

I have convinced 4 people to go see her. 3 out of 4 appreciated her, one thought therapy was pointless.
Thanks for this!

I first met my T while doing a DBT group so I knew some of his other clients from our group (which he co-ran). I didn't think much about it one way or another. Still don't though I couldn't tell you who was his client just by sitting in the waiting room since it services several Ts.

T works from home so have never 'seen' other clients. But if course I'm aware they exist, but I ignore them as best I can.

Other: I would hope a therapist has the right number of clients for them, which is not so many that they are spread too thin and don't have time to do whatever out-of-session research they may need to, and not so few that they are dependent on income from me to the extent that it can affect their judgment about how much treatment I might need. I don't really concern myself about their other clients though, except for trying not to run into any of them by showing up too early, in case they're worried about running into someone they know.

I can get jealous when I see another client leaving her office. And if I see them leaving after their endtime and T's a little bit late, then I can get really angry. It has happen a few times.
But this didn't really happen with previous T's.
I try to arrive only a few minutes before my time, I want to avoid seeing other clients.

I rarely see my t's other clients, but I know some people IRL who see him and it doesn't bother me at all. I am (slowly) starting to realize that t's love is not finite, and he can love me and other clients/people without it diminishing our work.

I'm the jealous type. I hate to walk out of her office and see other people in her waiting room. When I see another man waiting out there to see her I feel like grabbing him by the collar and escorting him back out the door.

I end up calming down by reminding myself I'm obviously FAR more devastatingly witty, articulate and attractive to her than any of her other clients could possibly be.
