Hi, the gift I'm going to get my T for the holidays can be personalized. Would you personalized it with her name, or with something related to psychology - like the word "psychology" or "mind" etc.

Or would you personalized it with a religious symbol (cross etc).

The reason I'm thinking religious symbol because I get her a gift every year and every January when I come back to her office, she displays it. Truth is, I don't want her to display my gifts in her office. I want her to display it at her house or elsewhere instead. I don't want her other patients know I'm giving her a gift. Her displaying my gift in her office, they will know she's getting a gift from someone.

By the way, the gift is a book where they fold the pages into a word, name, or symbol. I thought it was different. Unique. But not sure the best way to personalized it. Thanks for your input!

Hello Amandasmom: Actually I'm surprised your T is able to accept gifts. Where I live this would be considered inappropriate if not unethical. I suppose it probably does happen occasionally. But it is frowned on. Personally, I would suggest keeping it simple & more-or-less generic... maybe just some kind of non-religious symbol. But, then, that's just me... Happy shopping!

Neat gift idea! I think you should share with your T that you don't want the gift displayed and explore the meaning in that. If it were me, I would prefer an interesting word or symbol over my name. Displaying one's own name has always struck me as a little weird.
Thanks for this!

What about a personalisation that T cannot display in the office? Something that might trigger other patients, like spiders or skeletons.

That would be pretty manipulative, though. It would be better to talk to her about it.
