OTOH, with insured providers, there is generally more oversight and standards for providing generally accepted standards of treatment. The insurance company should vet all their providers and hold them to certain accepted standards in their respective fields.

I can't agree with that sentiment. I would be more inclined to agree if it was something abut only accepting "good" insurance, such as not taking managed care policies that require a lot of paperwork and violate client privacy, or insurance that reimburses adequately.
