I have been hospitalized and did not receive individual therapy. Now they are going to require me to get therapy after I get out. Shouldn't they have given me therapy while I was in the hospital if it was needed?

Most hospitals are acute care stabilization and do not provide individual therapy. It is a common requirement that you have appointments set up with a therapist and a psychiatrist before you discharge.
Thanks for this!

Yeah right. I have been here for 2 years. So you are telling me that they couldn't give me any therapy in the last 2 years?

I can only go on the information you gave me. You didn't specify that information. That is an unusually long stay. Yes, I would think in a long-term facility they would have provided therapy. It still makes sense that they would ask you to be in therapy after discharge.
Thanks for this!

I think that they are stupid and they told me that if I miss 2 sessions then they were going to come to my house and do mean things to me.

It sounds like you may need to contact them for further treatment. I hope things get better for you.

I don't think that I need therapy and have nothing that I want to talk about. I am tired of their control trip.

Depending on where you are it can be required legally for a patient to do outpatient whether or not they want it. (If a psych orders it.) You didn't give enough detail for me to figure it out though.

I think the hospital is therapy and when out of the hospital they do the next best thing which is meeting with someone every now and then and checking in to make sure you are still staying safe and feeling as good as you can. It's kind of like being required to check in and go see your regular doctor after you have been to the emergency room.

Are you in a medical or psychological hospital?
Thanks for this!
