Ugh. I'm getting sick. Not terribly surprising as all manner of strep throat and flu and stomach virus are running rampant around school. I've had kids absent for a week at time lately (and many others that should have stayed home). One more day and I'm off for spring break though. Seems like I remember a spring break some years ago that I spent in bed with the flu. Just so I feel human enough to go out next Friday night with my husband to celebrate our 29th anniversary.

Our students have been felled with some sort of stomach bug also.

I think mine is (hopefully) just a bad cold on the way. Right now I have a sore, scratchy throat, and my head feels like it is going to explode. Neck and shoulders and back are sore. We'll see. I already started taking cold medicine to see if I can head this off at the pass, but I'm not hopeful. My husband missed all week last week with this crud.

working with toddlers has strengthened my already strong immune system. The only thing I do get is the stomach bug (of course!), but even that has declined over the past year. Only one last year...

You'd think 30 years of teaching would have me immune to everything. Actually, I don't get sick terribly often anymore, but when I do . . .

I'm sitting here trying to think of more pleasant things than my sore throat, so I'm looking at the vacation home our whole family is renting out for 3 nights this summer. Wishing I was there right now. It's going to be a marvelous time for the family -- all 16 of us.

Oh, no! Don't want to intimidate you. It can be as small as you want it to be. Hugs.

Thanks EM! I'll just carve out a little nook someplace inconspicuous and try not to trip anyone if I need to hide.

Can't wait. When my sister was alive, our family did this all the time. Beach houses, riverside houses, barn houses in hill country . . . But we haven't done it since she passed away. Her daughter and husband are paying for the rental. The rest of us will bring food and beverages and we'll have a wonderful time. It's time. We're ready to move forward again. Next Saturday will mark 5 years since she left us. It's time. We'll all drink some margaritas in her honor.

The junior cat - okay, only cat - has developed an annoying habit of expecting to be carried to his food bowls. He stops at the kitchen threshhold and stares at the bowls and then at me until I carry him five feet to the bowls. It's like he thinks there's a trapdoor in the floor that will dump him into a shark tank.

Looks really nice. 16 people would be madness to me and I would need a vacation to recover from dealing with that many humans in one place near me -but the place looks fun.

I thought I had the only cat who did this. My youngest cat expects to be carried around - especially to her food bowl. Most of the time I oblige

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented. We try to be supportive. Sometimes we discuss what that means.

Its a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("t") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if its a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Large family gatherings have always been the norm in my family. We took be fruiful and multiply to heart. We really do all get along very well. We have always been a family that laughs and plays and sings together. We never fight, are always respectful and supportive. . . And laugh, did I mention that😀? We are spread all over Texas now (and one in Minnesota), so we rarely manage to get together like this anymore. We managed about three Thanksgivings ago here at our house to actually have everyone (usually someone is missing), so this will be a first in awhile.

It will be great fun. Four generations under one roof.

Or he just likes making his minion do things.
My middle (and favorite) dog will lie on the floor beside the bed and whine until I go and rub him before he will get up and eat his breakfast. He trained me well.

I didn't get into one of the two schools I applied to. It was my second choice. Getting acceptance to my first choice seems unlikely now. I'm facing the prospect of continuing to live in my parents' basement in a rural wasteland for at least another year. I'm 31 years old... when is my life going to start? I put in my best effort and my best effort wasn't good enough. My worst nightmare is coming true and its devastating.
