Can I get some pocket riders this afternoon to my appointment? After some stuff that happened this weekend and Thursday's appointment I'm severely nervous for my session.

I'm in Ellah's pocket, the elk is kind enough to share the space with me.

SD and ATAT, I don't do well with marriage either. I have always had "shared" accounts for household expenses, and my own money. I don't take kindly to people telling me how I should spend my own money, when my family is taken care of and all the bills are paid. On the other hand, I didn't take kindly to watching my exes waste their money AND mine, while I had to struggle to pay everything. So, single is better for me.

Had a rough weekend, the little was sick and now of course I'm getting sick as well. Joy.

Happy Monday Couch!
Thanks for this!

In our country, you usually marry in such a way that your individual property becomes both your property. So separate accounts wouldn't really mean a lot.

Ms. Granger: an insufferable know-it-all -ten points off Gryffindor

(ATAT is not an insufferable know-it-all. I just watched a couple of the HP movies this weekend and the phrase makes me laugh everytime I think of the character)

We had separate accounts too when I was married, but I never felt like I had any money because the ex was constantly complaining that I didn't contribute enough toward the bills. Nevermind that for a decent chunk of time I was the sole breadwinner... He actually told me that I should be happy that he 'let me' have my own money.

RS - I like the idea! Do you have a picture? If not from the tattoo itself, maybe from the 'template' they used to make the tattoo?

JS - sounds like a git.

Supposedly when Emma Watson went to Brown and would answer questions correctly in class, a classmate would invariably whisper, "Five points to Gryffindor!" Which I think is pretty funny, but she didn't.

I have a therapy acct separate from our joint acct, and he has his poker acct. He just tends to use his up and then has to wait til it builds up again, while my use is scheduled so he sees me going to therapy more than he plays poker, so he feels cheated i guess even though he can blow thru $300 in one evening. That's 3 appts for me. I don't know. Maybe he resents me growing or something. I ask him from time to time to go to couples therapy but he refuses. Sometimes i wish I'd never gotten married. I believe in us though and want to figure this out i just don't know how to talk with him about it without crying and clamming up. T and i will be working on this next 2 sessions and then i will practice on my break. Maybe he can't change but i sure can and maybe if i can get past my fear of telling him a lot of this stuff then we can work it out. But I'm not quitting therapy until I'm ready to. I promise myself that.

See thats what bugs me too. I work full time and put $50 per paycheck in my therapy acct and the rest (a much larger chunk) goes in the combined acct plus i put $50 of each check in my HSA plus our insurance comes outta my check besides. And he works less hours per week than i do, some weeks hardly at all cuz he's an on demand courier, doesn't have a schedule. I don't get it.

He has a poker account?

My husband and I have joint accounts. Honestly not enough left over to bother with separate accounts anyway. Three kids, running a household, college expenses, etc. take both of us all the way. (Poker would not be in the budget).

Why, oh why, is it so totally awkward when I call a new T for an appt.?? I just called one and he's in his car and will have to call me back tomorrow because his day is full today. Even the short conversation we had felt super awkward. I don't have an issue calling people in general, but these first calls are always AWKWARD.

Elsewhere, I think that awkwardness is sort of normal. Hope future contact is a bit more relaxed and productive.

I think I am starting to get over my crud. As usual, it has settled into my chest and killed my voice (ugh), but I feel generally better. I may be lipsyncing to Carmina Burana tonight though.

Today my sons and I have appointments for check-ups with our new family doctor. I've met him before when I was sick with bronchitis back in October, and their dad has been seeing him regularly for his health issues, but this will be the boys' first meet with him. They've had the same doctor their entire lives, so this will be interesting (they LOVED their pediatrician, but at 6'2" they hardly qualify for pediatric care anymore). I've put together my personal complaint list about my own health issues to whine about. I know he'll send me for mammogram and probably colonoscopy (I dread both because I choose to live in denial); maybe this year I'll actually take care of getting them done. I've been putting it off.

I'm on Spring Break and doing as little as possible otherwise. I wrestled our king-sized comforter into the bathtub for a handwashing as it's way too large for our washing machine. That sucker is heavy when wet, but it needed the dust washed out of it. Yuck. It was a work-out though.

I don't think it's really about the money at all:/ Misery loves company and all that...

I'd keep pushing him about doing couples'. It would probably do him a world of good - do both of you a world of good. Guys can be so stupidly proud though:/

Artie - just do a good old fashioned accounting balance sheet. Then see if his member really is worth what the balance sheet says it is. I CANT BELIEVE YOU HAVE ONLY TWO PAIRS OF SHOES!!! Is Arizona a third world country or what??
