I was thinking the other day about how I'm lucky that I have never slept through a therapy session before (mine are always at 8am). Although I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen one day lol
Have you ever accidentally missed a therapy session?
How did your t react?

Thanks for this!

Almost missed one with my current T during a particularly rough time for me a few months ago. I was thinking it was at 1:00, then got a call from her a little after 11 making sure I was OK. I was like, "I thought my appointment was at 1?" She said it was actually at 11 and asked how far away I was. I was like, "Well, I'm at home, but I could get there in 20 minutes." What I didn't tell is that I still hadn't showered. Took world's fastest shower, and got there in like 21 minutes. She said I could stay till 12:15, since they have a meeting then, so I still got almost a full appointment in. I really appreciated her calling me (I'm usually not more than a couple minutes late) and still letting me stay most of the appt. time, and I let her know that. She's awesome.

I actually missed one with my past T from like 7 years ago. The appointment time changed from week to week, and I had apparently scheduled an early morning appointment (like 8 a.m.). I thought I had called to reschedule it to later the same day. Showed up at what I thought was my appointment time, and they were like, "Yeah, you were supposed to be here at 8." I sadly and sheepishly left. Luckily, they didn't charge me.

I've gotten the time wrong twice and missed most of my session, with 2 different therapists. The first one just took me in when I arrived. The second was with my current therapist - we just used the time we had, and then we made up the time on the phone the next day, so I had the equivalent of a whole session.

Yup. Had my days mixed up. Actually happened more than once over the years. He took it in stride. Didn't charge me for it since I was usually so good about attending sessions.

I've accidentally missed a Pdoc appt. And I was there in the same building at the time! My appt was after my DBT group, and instead of waiting, I went home... Completely forgot.

No but I accidentally missed meeting at work . I once left the building and instead of driving to the meeting to board office drove home, I work an hour from home and only realized what I did when I was 5 minutes from home. People worried about me because we left the building together to drive to the board and I never showed up.
I sometimes dream that I miss something or don't show up somewhere etc yet it pretty much almost never happens.

Yeah, I accidentally missed one once. I had some weird calendar at the time (the week started on Monday) and wrote the appointment in on the wrong day. My t called me in a panic wondering where I was. I went into a panic because I effed up and needed a session badly that week but missed it. T was cool about it and didn't charge me for the missed session.

Good luck with those early 8am sessions!!

I missed one once, years ago, when I was still in high school. because I thought my T said she'd be out the next week, so I walked downtown with my friend instead of getting a ride from my mom after school. My T called me and asked where I was/was I coming, but it was no big deal.

I have had the date/ time mix up 3 times over the years. Twice she called me because I never miss and if I will be late I call her. Once I was close by and arrived about 20 minutes late; had most of my appointment. Another time I was at a kid function so couldn't just leave. Rescheduled for another day. One time I thought my was earlier than it really was. Showed up 2 hours early. Her sometime for time arrived wasn't there. So she took me in with the understanding I'd the person showed to late I would leave and come back. The person showed up about 15 minutes late.

Only once when I was on day three of a 3-day migraine. Didn't go at all, didn't go back because we had reached an impasse anyway and I figured it was a sign.

The only one I missed was the day I got lost hiking, but that doesn't really count I guess because I called her at the scheduled time, and would have done the session sitting on the side of the road (I was doing phone sessions anyway at that time) but she said no, because my h was already on the way to pick me up and take me back to my car and we would have been interrupted.

If I didn't write the date down on my calendar then I would forget.
