I don't know if I should reschedule or what. I gave myself a black eye somehow last night when I was having a panic attack and my appointment is in the morning. I have a boyfriend, so people automatically will assume he could have hit me. What will my t think? Would it better to reschedule for a date where I don't have a black eye?

Just tell him/her how you got the black eye, why would anybody assume it was your bf? Especially someone whom you've never met.

I think people DO assume it. I had dental surgery done once that resulted in me looking like i dated Mike Tyson, THEN they told me to rinse with salt. Well, i did not have a box of salt where i was living at the time, so i stopped at a stop-n-go, and the clerks attitude was unmistakeable.

First session, the therapist is going to want to know about family and friends as intake. She hears about the boyfriend, she sees a black eye...yes, she could well make that leap.

She'll also probably ask you why you're there. That would be a chance to take the bull by the horns. Tell her about your panic attacks and that you have hurt yourself during them, the black eye being the example. Just a thought, especially if you panic frequently and end up injured.

Last night, I had ice on two fingers that I was scared I broke banging my hands on the dashboard and Windows of the car and my boyfriend in my panic attack. I just always automatically no one believes anything I say because I have a label of "crazy". In most people's eyes who don't know anything about MI. I've noticed this with many doctors. Many different fields.

That doesnt sound like what they usually call a panic attack. Theyre usually not so energetic. But i dont know what that woulda been.

I don't think you have to explain it if you don't want to. You could just say that you don't want to talk about it or that you had an accident

I think you should go. The eye could be a good opportunity to 'take the bull by the horns,' as ATAT said. But SD's right that you don't have to offer an explanation if you don't want to talk about it. Good luck and stay safe.

I slept through my alarm or it didn't go off. I emailed her and we rescheduled for next week. I really hope I don't bail on her.
