I put some old family movies from when I was a baby, and older, onto DVDs. There's even one from when my brother was a baby. We're talking 60 and 70 year old 16 mm film on reels without sound! I think it would be productive to watch parts of them and T agreed. Actually, my first T wanted to see them but I quit seeing her before we got a chance to do it. Did anyone ever watch home videos with their T?

After the tragic death of my abusive BF I was inpatient and brought some home movies of me, my BF and son to the hospital. The nurses wouldn't let me watch them until they okayed it with my pdoc. When my pdoc learned about them she and I watched some of them for about 45 minutes until I said I was done for now.

After my sister's death, we watched the video of her life together. Lots of tears and some really wonderful discussion.

I don't have any home movies, but I have found sharing a few old photos to be very moving.
Thanks for this!

That's a good idea. My brother recently sent me a bunch of old pictures and I shared some of them with t. It felt like they helped her get to know me even more on a deeper level. Which was kinda scary, kinda good. He put some old movies on a DVD for me too, I think I'll bring it with me next time and ask if she wants to watch a couple of them from when I was young.
Thanks for this!

that sounds interesting. i have shown my T photos of me when i was little... and of my family. he always asks me how it makes me feel to look at them... i never know what to say because i don't remember much of anything of that period in my life. as far as home movies go, i don't think i could ever watch them. my dad filmed us a lot... playing, driving, etc... he narrates the videos so i can hear his voice. it would tear me up so much to see those and hear his voice. i havent look at one in over ten years. i havent heard his voice in 10 years... or see him on film, talking. i think that wwould be way too much for me at this point...
