I have been seeing a therapist for awhile now, and although I like her and she's helped me some, I've decided to go back to seeing my old therapist because I feel safer there. Any advice with how to "break up" with a T without burning bridges? I'd like her to be available in the future if need be.

Maybe just tell her you'd like a break from therapy for awhile? Or you would like a break from therapy with her for awhile? Jeez....I'm seeing three right now, and I WISH I could "break up" with one of them. But they all seem to serve a purpose of some kind....so it's hard.

Is there a reason you left the first one? That might be something to think about. It took months before I felt comfortable talking with my therapist.

I have no idea. I try to break up with mine at least twice a year and have not figured out how yet. But I wish you the best!

p.s. let us know if you figure it out

I left T1 because of transference feelings, but I think I want to tackle them now. Do you think that is OK?
