IDK but I think it would be cool to borrow one of T's books (they are the ones she keeps in her office and relates to mental health).

Neither of the ones I see have books in their office. I would not like to borrow one of theirs. If they had a title I wanted to read, I would get it from the library or buy it.

She had lent me books several times, and one I kept for months until she needed it to prepare for a talk. When she tried to return it I let her know I had bought my own copy. She also read books to me during our sessions, not necessarily having to do with therapy.

He offered. I prefer my own copies of things I read, so I simply went out and got a copy for myself.

Ex-T offered many times. I would normally wait to get my own copy. She had this little book of quotes that she would let me take. In the end, after she abandoned me, she gave me the book. Still don't know whether to consider it a valuable object or a bribe to drop my complaint.

My therapist has lent me two books. One about exceptionally gifted people because she thought that's what I was, and another book about introverts. Since I'm an introvert. Everytime she volunteered to lend them to me, I've never asked but I'm sure if I did, she would have no problem lending me more books. She's great in that regard.

I have borrowed, read and returned a few, and she even purchased a couple
of copies of one that's specific to my condition and gave one of them to me as
a gift so we can read and work through it together ... I found that rather touching
and really appreciate it immensely!

Thanks for this!

I almost borrowed one once but then my T changed her mind because she thought the book would be too disturbing for me to read.

She has twice. The first time we had discussed a book about the mental health journey of a person who lives in my community. The person had been a patient where I worked at one point (years before I worked there) and had also at one point been a patient on the unit I worked. I borrowed the book from T. Then I ended up buying the follow up book and let T borrow it.

The second time I had read a review about a book and mentioned it to T and said I wanted to buy it. That evening T sent me an email saying she had purchased the book for her library and that I would be the first person to read it.

Yes. I've borrowed 3 books from her (and when we did phone sessions, she would recommend books that I'd go find at the library sometimes) and I have bought my own copy of some of them. Most recently the one about the archetype of Artemis in strong women.

I wish my t had her therapy-related books in her current office. I would probably want to look at them once a month or so!

My T lent me a book she hadn't even read yet! I was like "No way...you haven't even read this," and she insisted, especially since she has little time to read with two small children at home.

My T has lent me books quite a few times and has recommended many. I often find them a bit painful to read and return them only partially read.

Yes, I've borrowed several books from my T. She suggested them, except for Attachment in Psychotherapy, that I asked to borrow. I'd like to read many -of her books, but I usually don't ask. She also has a book of mine that she hasn't returned but I don't care. In addition to that one, I lent her One Child a few years ago but she said she didn't have time to read it. She has it in her office because she said it was important to me. I never asked for it back.

I guess I also answered a different question. Have you ever lent books to your T?
