My T is short. Aged 62. Rather over weight. 2 yrs ago she lost loads of weight. I felt I wanted to lose weight, felt angry that she had because sering her over weight I read a her being comfortable with herself.
I asked at the time why she's lost weight. She just said "well I don't want to end up with one of those disability scooter things when I'm older ". OK, fair enough. But, she's since put the weight back on. I want to ask her "huh? How come?". But have the guts. Today she answered the door in her usual black T-shirt. She use to wear black jeans too - she's wow beige slacks wgrn she lost weight - but today she's had these light blue cotton trousers they because of her short fat legs, they look rally odd. I felt embarrassed for her! I couldn't look at her. What the hell is that about???? |

No, I meant what's my problem. That I felt embarrassed looking at her like that.
I mean. Good luck to her for not being bothered by her outward appearance. |

When I was a teenager, I would sometimes be embarrassed by what my parents or grandparents were wearing or doing. Wouldn't look at them. Would talk to them in monosyllables. I had to associate with them and I loved them but they were embarrassing.
Is it something like that maybe? |

I have a lot of issues with my T's appearance. She is very thin ( I'm not) and I used to think she had an eating disorder. It was also hard to get used to her switching from glasses to contacts. I have been embarrassed about my former T's appearance because of her choice of clothing. As far as losing and gaining, that happens a lot. It's easier to lose it than to keep it off. I know from experience. I think your T will welcome a discussion about your reactions to her dress and weight, and will bring it back to your issues. She seems similar to my T. Everything is grist for the mill. Right?

My t wears stockings with sandals. So odd. But it might be something you feel what kids feel when parents dress stupidly. My parents routinely dress outrageous. My dad recently wore bright green alligator skin shoes and he often wears shorts with knee socks etc
is she your parents age? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think its something about passing 60 - your attitude about appearance changes. It becomes more introverted than extroverted.
Also, there are a lot of articles about weight loss / regain on nytimes dot com health this week. The takeaway is, a person has to continue to exercise nine hours a week to maintain an appreciable loss. Thats like walk six miles a day. |

I sometimes feel a bit embarrassed for my marriage counselor for a few of his outfits. Like this red polo shirt that looks like he's had it for 10 years. It's an awful color on him, and he always seems to leave it completely unbuttoned so you can see his chest hair. Which, OK, when I had my first erotic dream about him a couple years ago, he was wearing that shirt unbuttoned, and I just felt awkward because, like, hello, chest hair! Which made me flash back to the dream. But since that erotic thing has lessened sometimes, I do feel embarrassed on his behalf for some things he wears, including that shirt. I'm clearly not the only one, as one day, when he came in looking especially pulled together, he said his teenage daughter had put herself in charge of his wardrobe! (I think that must have stopped.)
And my T, who's always very stylishly dressed, and I have actually talked about his wardrobe (they've worked together for years). The one time, she was like, "Have you seen his shoes?!?" He used to have this pair that was totally falling apart, and she said she was having trouble focusing on anything else in one of their practice's staff meetings (he's since replaced those). So, nope, not just you! |

My own daughter dresses really weird like winter boots and summer dress and nothing ever matches or fits right. She is well adjusted otherwise so I guess it's what it's
