So my T talked about trying to help me to find a way of staying present sometimes because as the work gets deeper there is a possibility I might 'check out' a bit more. We talked about me reaching out for something to hold but to be honest I get frozen, it is like I have checked out of my body when it happens, luckily not too often but it would still be a good idea to find a way to bring me back. So I suggested if I got a cuddly toy and if it could live with her she could bring it to me when she noticed it was happening. She said we could certainly do that.

So I got a purple teddy bear which smells of berries, I thought the scent might help too, but I need to think of a name. I wondered if anyone would care to offer a suggestion?

Jude, Graham, Devin, Leo, Henrie, Martin, Finnegan (Finn or Finny), Apollo

All my stuffies are boys and those are the names I like They sound kind, strong, and sturdy like I need them to be. I'll PM you the name of my grounding object (it would be too identifying to post in public).

Berry? What name comes to mind when you look at the bear? Early in therapy I bought T and I matching teddy bears. Little ones. Hers sits on a shelf in her office; mine is in my home. I don't think we ever named them, but we talked about it.

Or ask your T to name it. I asked her to name the stuffed otter she got me.

I really admire the way you do therapy. I'd like to have a therapy teddy too, but I don't think I will bring it up. I like Bramble.

What nice ideas. " Blue - beary " - he'll help you bear things that make you sad.

Purple bear. Lame, I know. But it's easy to remember when you're dissociating!

Thanks all for your suggestions, I love the idea of a safe strong name as well as bramble and the beary ideas, both blue and purple. He might have to have lots of names, lol. I think I might ask my T to name him and then he can be Mr ...... Bramble bear, because I thought Mr Bramble sounded good.
