The human shelf title has me feeling like we're all figurines from one of those collectible series.

Not complaining, Ellahmae! I'm taking the opportunity to ask myshelf the deep question "if I were a Precious Moments figurine, what would I be?" I don't know why therapists don't ask that. The answer could be very telling.
Thanks for this!

My therapist's answer to your question would be -- "Why do you only have to be one type of figurine? Can't you be both or multiple types? And why only Precious Moments? Why can't you be other types of figurines as well? This again seems like judging -- we don't want to judge. It's all-or-nothing / black-and-white thinking again. What does this remind you of? This sounds like what your mother / father did -- it had to be everything or nothing".

P.S. I have no idea about Precious Moments figurines although I did just google them.
Thanks for this!

We'd have to work therapy in there somehow. Like, if your therapist were a Precious Moments figurine, what would they be, etc.

There are lots of collectible figurines. Doesn't have to be Precious Moments. Hummels are nice.

At first I thought it was a joke, but no, the Precious Moments Chapel the article mentions is real, and is modelled on the Sistine Chapel.

eta: Couch field trip???

Well I decided to go get my hair cut. I wanted a change, y'know, to reflect the internal shift that just came about in the last week or so. I certainly got a change! H likes the style, but he started in on the "I hate the color" again (he can't STAND that I have some gray). I cried when he said that. Because he knows I don't want to color it anymore. It's a pain in the butt, it stinks, it makes my hair feel yucky, etc. He said (and I quote) "Just promise me if the doctor ever tells you I have 3 weeks to live that you'll color it for me then so I can see you with normal hair again." I am 54. What is not "normal" about having some gray? Besides, when I get it cut, they always tell me it looks like highlights.

I do not understand him at all. He gets upset when I am sad but it's so often something HE said or did that I am sad in response to. Like him saying "I hate the color". Anyway, here is me. I'm not crying anymore, and f him.

Your haircut looks really nice! And I don't think there's anything wrong with having some gray hair. Sorry your husband says he doesn't like the color.
