I would normally send something like this to T but I've just set myself a no between session contact boundary and I don't want to break it in less than a week
So here's a little poem I wrote for anyone who wants to read it. It's just about 'the relationship' and the young part of myself that's been on my mind quite a bit lately.

Child me wonders where you are
And when you're coming back
Child me wants you to provide
The safety that I lack.

Child me wants you to explain
Why I am not so bad,
And tell me that you see my pain
When I am feeling sad.

Child me needs your knowing smile
When you look into my eyes
She needs your warm acceptance when
You see through the disguise.

Child me is still vulnerable
And figuring out whether
She can safely hold your hand
As we walk this road together. .

Thanks I think I will, one way or another. The nice thing about emailing him this sort of stuff was that I couldn't see him read it, yet I would still get a response from him.
I can't read it out to him because I'd be too embarrassed I think (because of the subject) and I might feel the same about seeing him read it, but if I hand it to him at the end I have to wait a week to talk to him about it, so I don't know what to do!

You might find that the face to face response is just what you need. I wrote a poem about me and my T recently and I asked her to read it in session. She asked if she could read it aloud and I agreed, it didn't feel right to say no. It was scary hearing her read it and I didn't pay all that much attention because I was just trying to stop the ground from eating me up!! Her response though, was just what the little one in me needed to hear and she asked if she could have a copy too.

The next session I brought in a copy for her and asked if she would read it again and if she would hold my hand this time. I not sure where that came from but the whole experience was almost magical.

My advice, be brave and take it to your session, but don't leave it until the end. All the best Echoes.

I love your poem, Echos. I agree that you might find the face to face response something that you need. It certainly has been for me. I have written several poems to my t, and have given her some of them in person and sat there watching her read them - I can't quite explain how it feels to watch her reactions other than I feel so warm and so seen. As in, she sees only the good in me. Or something. And when she gets a little teary-eyed, that's the biggest hugest compliment ever to me.

Thank you art. I sent him another poem once which he asked to put up on his (private) office wall which I was very touched by, but he probably never would have seen it if I hadn't emailed it to him.
This one touched on feelings I am even more sensitive about and loath to admit, so I imagine it will be excruciating, but I will do it anyway. I try to be as open as possible with him.
