I voted yes. I would have never thought to say that just a few months ago, but there you go. Learning quite a lot, and it's all been spot on and helpful in surprising ways.

I specifically do see my therapist as my teacher. I went to her specifically to learn skills as part of CBT

I said "some/maybe" because I think I learn through therapy with my T's help but don't see him as a teacher so much as someone who helps me explore, and sometimes as an example of ways to relate to others.

Definitely not, she has thought me how not to do therapy though.
Don't get me wrong, I love my t to bits and a lot of our sessions we spend laughing and joking but sometimes she can be a little much!

Whenever I dream about PrevT, she is either a (my) teacher...or a therapist. Interesting to me the amount of times I dream of her being a teacher.

My T has taught me about grounding techniques when I disociate and self-care strategies when I'm depressed. She's taught me other techniques in general for dealing with my mental illness so I do see her as a teacher in that way, I suppose.

In general, I expected more teaching and was disappointed in how little teaching I got.

Yes I do. My T is teaching me the skills and ways to cope on my own that I need. I have learned a lot from her.
Thanks for this!

Yes, I see her as the teacher I never had with regards to emotions and relating with other people. I am proving to be a fairly slow learner but I am actually fine with that. Kids don't learn this stuff overnight.
Thanks for this!

No, I don't think I have viewed any of my ts as a 'teacher'.
I am a bit of a 'learner' and like to have a full understanding of anything I am interested in, which includes anything related to the health of my body and mind. As such I don't seek a T for knowledge or 'learning', although that doesn't mean that I don't learn anything from them. They can sometimes see things I can't and their insights can be helpful.
Currently I am seeking a T who can support me in my own internal work. I have all the tools and skills for the job, but I want a witness who can walk along beside me (and hopefully keep up!)
Thanks for this!

My T was a professor at one time. He's now professor emeritus at the local university. Despite that, he hasn't taught me much. I guess after over twenty years in therapy I should have figured some things out.

What sorts of things did you think the therapist could teach you?

Everyone I meet can become my teacher if I'm ready and open to learn. So yes.

Yes. He has helped me and taught me ways to look at things and respond to them in a way that is safe. Trying and learning to understand it is now what I'm trying to learn.
