Tomorrow I'm finally going to see my new therapist... aaand I'm worried about ti
Once again, I didn't have any role in choosing this one... my parents did all the job. I looked up a couple of profiles of her in the Internet.. doesn't really say anything relevant.
I don't know, I just have the feeling this won't be a good match... I know I have no good reson to think that, but still..

I don't know. I hope everything will turn out alright..

I'm back from my session

It was good, I guess. I talked a lot to her and she didn't put me that much pressure, but she still asked a lot of questions and was very nice about it.

However, the only thing I'm doubtful about is if she's actually competent: she didn't tell me anything about where she studied, her kind of therapy, how long has she been working.. so I don't know if she will actually be able to help me. I hope so. I'll try a few more sessions with her.

What do you guys think?

I've never had a therapist tell me their educational background, therapy approach, etc. in the first session. I tended to just glance at their credentials which all of them had posted in their office. Mine were also very eclectic, so they wouldn't have really said anything about any particular therapy modality. We eventually got around to that information, but it wasn't high on my priority list for the first session. I would guess if you asked she would tell you. Just ask for that information and I'm sure she'll fill you in.

Thank you I guess you're right... maybe I should ask her. I didn't ask her because I didn't want to seem rude (like I was doubting her knowledge of the subject).

I don't think she would consider that rude at all. It's a pretty standard question that I'm sure she gets asked quite a bit.
Thanks for this!

Yeah, I guess so... still, this is how I feel, so I'm betting it will be a bit hard to me to ask that.. :/

For what it is worth, I have never had a t tell me about their qualifications directly. They have told me about their methods and have been very willing to answer questions about them. One t has her diplomas on her wall. One has told me where he went to grad school. And one I have no clue about.

If you want to know, I think it is ok to ask. Especially about their method. It seems like asking about that is just taking care of yourself.

How did it go Mickey?? fingers crossed, hopefully it went well. remember, you can always change if its not the right fit. It's important to be honest with yourself and your parents. They can't help you if they don't know how you feel hun.
Thanks for this!
