we started the session with me asking if she needed to go over the schedule again because she called me and was not sure if i had surgery yet and how i was doing etc... so we started going over when i would be able to come back and i decided that after next week i will be back dec 8th she went on looking at her book and saying half out loud the week after that im going to need an hour and half for her so , then she got louder and said we will need to meet at 330 or 4 that week to be safe
![]() she started by asking me exactly what is going on with my health . i explained just what they were going to do and how long im going to be in the hospital etc. 2 days in icu sedated and 1 week in the cardiac unit . i told her about how im dealing with the diet restrictions and we were just having a light conversation about all of it .then she said that it seems like im taking all this lightly and wanted to know if i was just putting on a front . ![]() ![]()

Hey granite, since you're having to pay for the time taken for heart surgery and recovery (which, honestly kind of shocks me), how would you feel about asking to keep those sessions, but have them over the phone instead? It would not be doing you a favor for her to do that, since you're paying anyway; in fact, I would think she'd have to say yes. Another option is emailing back and forth for the hour.
I would not like hearing about my therapist wanting to move my time around for another client to have a longer session, either, btw. Maybe it's for a new client (sometimes first sessions are scheduled longer) or administering some kind of test or eval (if she does that) or it's for a family, or some other circumstance. Regardless, you don't need to hear about it. |

Sounds really confusing. I do know that many t schedule 1 1/2 hours for EMDR. It is not considered cool to have a client leave after EMDR unless the anxiety is at an acceptable level, so sometimes that takes longer. So maybe it is the type of therapy not the person that is leading to the longer session?
And I agree that it is awful for her to charge you for the sessions you miss for heart surgery. I am not clear about whether she will charge you while you are not coming in until Dec 8. If that is the case, I would keep my appointment even if it meant coming in an ambulance! Or do like Ruh Roh said and tell her you want to keep the appointment over the phone. I wonder if she said she couldn't call you because you will be out if it for a few days and she wants to know that you are ok? Because she did call you recently, right? |
