I saw a therapist this morning. For the first time I felt validated. She said she was "baffled" about the way my therapist changed her boundaries in the middle of therapy. When I said that it was not therapeutic to punish me (by cancelling a session) she said "indeed" very firmly. It was not huge but it felt really good that the craziness of my T was being acknowledged. I left feeling much better which hadn't happened in a long time. Btw, I want to thank everybody who commented on my previous threads (therapists and their ego, and "it is your interpretation "). I'm sorry I didn't respond as I was feeling too bad but I read everything. Thank you. And now I feel a glimmer of hope after this morning. This therapist may not be the "one" but at least she validated me, which is better than other therapists ever did.

Glad you spoke with a T who gets it.
I hope she's the one, if you decide to proceed with her.
Take care of you!

That sound so positive and wonderful! I'm glad that you were able to find someone who is at least sane enough to see the craziness with the previous T and to validate that. Yay!
Thanks for this!

Really happy for you! are you going to try seeing her again? Even if she's not "the one," maybe she can help you while you search for the one.

I also hope that you have another session scheduled, and I hope it helps. And I am in agreement with her "indeed!"

Thank you for the responses! Yes I'm going to see her again. I have an appointment scheduled for next week. The only thing is, I'm still very attached to my last therapist. I know I should move on but it's hard after 2 and a half years. It's awful to end like this. So maybe I'll end up going back to her a few times to process things (if she agrees, I don't know about that yet). But I'm definitely going to keep seeing this new therapist!

I'm so excited for you!!! I knew that my new T was the one by the way the answered the phone in a kind way and validated my feelings. Thus far, this really sounds good! When do you see her again?

Being validated and talked to like an adult instead of someone with issues is huge! You'll notice how it will make YOU feel! This is such good news::P
Thanks for this!

If you are feeling up for it, maybe telling t1 what the specific deal breakers are may prevent her from doing this to another client.

I'd like to think most people get into the therapeutic field to actually help people. Of course there are narcissistic exceptions.

I know from my own co-dependent tendencies that a desire to "help people" can come from what is basically a narcissistic place, a desire to seem and to feel like a good person. I think many therapists may be unaware of the narcissism in what they think is "helping people".

Yay! I'm glad your going to see her again!

And - I'm sorry about your last therapist. I'm having some pangs over my last therapist too, it's hard. Hopefully the new T can help you process some?

Lots of good wishes for you!
Thanks for this!
