I recently had an appointment with a therapist who I really clicked with. His personality was great and he was understanding. The only negative is that he doesn't allow any outside of therapy contact. Neither does my psychiatrist. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist on Monday.

It may be for the best that they have firmer boundaries since that seems to be where things went really awry in your past therapy. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks, and I agree that the lack of contact outside of sessions will probably benefit me more than hurt me. Texting and emailing too much with my Ex-T lead to too many ruptures.

Great, congrats!

You might need less contact with someome who manages the therapy differently.

I haven't felt a need to contact him since the last session. I think our dynamic is different than with my previous T.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad you found a new T you like!! I'd find the "no contact" rule hard, but at the same time it may have been better for me so it sounds like this T has your best interests in mind.

I'm happy for you! The no contact rule is tough but if sessions are productive you may not need it as much.

I do wish I could contact my T between sessions but ultimately, I think it adds to my attachment issues.
