So next month I start counselling sessions with a new counsellor.I haven't seen anyone for two years and then it was only briefly.
This woman specialises in trauma counselling and depression and has experience with domestic violence.I am fortunate that she does sessions at a concessionary price.

I am so very pleased to be starting counselling soon,I have waited a long time to be able to get the money together for this.

I am looking forward to having someone support me,listen to me,be on my side,I am hoping to get some traumatic stuff off my chest.
She told me the counsellor that she won't be making decisions for me or directing me at all rather she will help me explore issues in a way that helps me find my own way forward and make my own decisions.....which is what I want to be as independent, self sustaining and me the individual directing her own life as much as I can.

So bring it on.I would love to hear from people with positive experiences of therapy or counselling with details of what that entailed and how it helped you. Many thanksxxx

Hello maralyn!!
I'm really happy to hear you are getting into therapy. How are you holding up?
I'm in therapy, just done my 4th session and really happy with it so far!! Not only is it lovely to talk to someone just to break the loneliness, it's also really helping to just release it all. I journal daily but it doesn't help half as much as a therapy session.
So far, we are just doing the basics and she is learning about me and my situation. She has already helped me to decide and accept that I am not overreacting and that i have every right to feel the way i do.
She never outright tells me what to do or labels anything so to speak... she just helps me to realize it all on my own. She helps me to make the decisions that I need to, and supports my feelings and needs.
It's just so nice to not feel so alone...
I hope it's all going well for you!! Hugs
Thanks for this!

Hi Zedsdead,
I haven't started the counselling yet, I will be starting it in three weeks, but I have met the counsellor and had an introductory session.

I am glad things are going well with your therapist.I hope that continues.
