My t shares an office with another t and a doctor and, yes, I will smile or say hi to people in the waiting room, sometimes chat. I got there early once and I chatted with the mom of a client seeing my t. My t ends at 10 til and she's very punctual, so unless I get there more than 10 minutes early, the client before me is already gone.

I very rarely see other clients and when I do I try to get a glimpse of what they look like without making eye contact. I'm both curious and wanting to pretend they don't exist haha. I'm T's last client but a couple of times she's had a client after me thankfully it didn't turn out to be a regular thing so that's good.

My therapy takes place in a holistic health center. It's a busy place. If a client is leaving the building as I am arriving, I do not know which practitioner they saw for which service. Maybe it was my T and maybe not. The practitioners do not walk their clients back out to the waiting room to say goodbye. If another client (for another practitioner) is already in the waiting room when I arrive, I take my cue from them as to whether I should just nod and smile or say hello. Somehow it all works. I never feel like my privacy is compromised.

Pretty rarely. One time another long term client brought her tiny little dog in - no way i was not gonna pet that dog!

Clients in the waiting room are usually other's therapists clients and at times we might acknowledge each other but usually I try to avoid looking at them and I just sit down and look at my phone until my therapist comes and gets me. I only see my therapists clients when he runs their sessions long and they are walking out of his office but usually I only have a quick look and back to my phone. Or when my session runs longer and I see someone waiting in the room and in that case I just quickly walk out without looking or saying anything. But that's the way I am with strangers in general. Once I had someone walking in and I open and held the door for her, she said that you, we were just being polite. No way I would do any kind of small talk there

The waiting room serves 5 other Ts and 2 Pdocs so I wouldn't know who's there to see my T unless I asked.
IF someone makes direct eye contact with me I will give a half nod and a smile. Couple times that has bit me in the butt because the person took it as an opening to tell me their life story. Most times I just get a nod and a smile back.

Aha well in the waiting room there is a plasma tv up on the wall, so people generally watch that or are on their phones half the time.

If I see the same person a few times I'll give them a nod but I don't talk to them unless they talk to me. There was one who tried to chat with me every time, that was annoying, but I ended up changing times for other reasons.

My therapist had a waiting room and there was often a patient going out as I went in or vice versa. So if I crossed someone while I was going in (and they going out) I would give this EXTRA bright smile. Like HELLO (isn't-this-absolutely-normal-I'm-not-even-slightly-abashed-nothing-wrong-with-me) look. If I was going out and they were going in I would be more absorbed in the session I had just had and just give a half-smile/glance...

I sometimes see the previous patient going away while I'm entering the house. I would never look at them and most certainly I would not greet them or smile to them. But this is nothing too extraordinary, I never greet people I don't know, I rarely look at someone and I never smile to anyone without a reason.
