Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy!

Gingerbread refers to a broad category of baked goods, typically flavored with ginger, cloves, nutmeg or cinnamon and sweetened with honey, sugar or molasses. Gingerbread foods vary, ranging from a soft, moist loaf cake to something close to a ginger snap.

Thanks for the new Couch, Cake. Listening to Billy Joel at the moment, trying to forgive my colleagues their ineptitude. We had a Skype meeting lined up tonight, and one of them cancelled with two hours' notice, citing workload. So, the meeting's been moved to Thursday evening...therapy day.

I wish something would work out for a change...my colleagues seem to think I can just drop everything.

I went into a little craft chocolatier's shop this morning because I have to take a gift later this week and they kept trying to fob samples off on me. Finally I just had to admit I don't like chocolate that much in general and I dislike dark chocolate altogether and that I was just there to buy a gift. It took a couple of times for the not liking chocolate all that much part to sink in

There's a fire right outside our neighborhood. The fire trucks are already there, but I do live in California. Fires spread easily. It's a little scary!

I have my annual “woman” check up tonight. I already feel violated and I didn’t even get there yet. I think since I worked all day I should shower first.

And what’s the policy of stepping on the scale? Can I just refuse? Say “No thank you. I’m not stepping on the scale”

I think you can refuse.

My gynecologist is very overweight so has a policy that nurses turn the scale reader away from the patient and do not announce their weight to them unless they ask. I think it’s a good idea.

I love that idea! It’s your right to say no to doctors. It would be interesting to see how they respond. I frequently refuse to answer questions that I don’t feel like answering. Usually they are cool about it, though once I got into an argument with a nurse. I was still happy I had refused.

I’m going to refuse tonight and let you all know the response. I know I am overweight. I am reminded of it every day I look in the mirror. I don’t need a number to tell that.

I did it. I refused to step on the scale. The nurse called me back then we got to the scale
N: Hop on!
Me:No. We aren’t doing that
N....(deer in headlights look)
Me: look, I just don’t want to know what I weigh today.
N: No problem. We can move on.

And that was it. Pretty boring. I was hoping for at least a tiny argument.

I see t tomorrow. I want to physically be there in his office, but I really don’t want to talk about anything. Maybe because I’m sick of talking about the same old things, or maybe because I am avoiding talking to him about something pretty major. Who knows.

Second opinion says I don't need a hysterectomy right now but came up with a THIRD diagnostic test to expose me to so I guess we'll have to wait and see how that one turns out. Apparently the second test was useless, thanks for the painful biopsy for no reason. (Well it'll be useful if it turns out abnormal but a negative test won't rule out a darn thing.)

Hate it when they say 'hop on' the scale. Makes me want to actually HOP ON the scale. Serves them right when I smash it to pieces.

Hello, all, thought I'd take a bite out of your gingerbread couch...or two...I got the munchies and devouring an entire gingerbread couch sounds pretty bomb right now...

But I promise I'll eat all but the cushions, give people a place to sit.

Wouldn't it be nice to live in a house entirely made out of gingerbread? We'd have to have Willy Wonka's Oompa Loompas make the house...Willy Wonka has the ability to make a gingerbread house that never grows old, never molds, the icing never melts, and he can make it so it'd be completely insulated so your house will always stay warm. And you can eat it, too!

I haven't looked at other responses, so I don't know what's been spoken or what is expected.

My day went great. I went on a first date to breakfast at Pig N Pancakes today. He's a keeper. As Forrest Gump says, "We were peas and carrots!" I've only been speaking to him for two days, but when we met, we were like old friends reminiscing. He's a great guy, and I think this friendship could potentially last a lifetime...and by the way we're thinking and interacting....is it me or do I smell love in the air? <3
