I have found that the agencies that take Medicaid don't have the best therapists. Has that been true for anyone else?

Just looking for others experiences...thanks.

I see a T through medicaid. I don't know that he's the best, but I don't think he's the worst, either.

Sorry you haven't had the greatest experiences.

I used to see Ts through Medicaid. My T I saw 17 years ago was part of the county clinic. She was awesome. Then when she transferred, I saw a private T who accepted Medicaid. She was crap. My ex-T who was a private T I started seeing 4 years ago, was okay until she abandoned me. Now I see a private T and pay out of pocket. She's pretty awesome.

Pdoc s #1 and #2 took my Medicare and Medi-cal. Prevt took both, too. She was great!

Current T takes my Medicare and Medicaid. She's awesome, too.

I try to stay away from County Mental Health agencies if I can. They had a high turn over rate in my experience. MH professionals didn't act as if they liked their jobs there.

My therapist doesn't accept any insurance but emails me a receipt each month. My oldest son saw a few psychiatrists thru Medicaid some years ago and frankly most of them sucked. They just wrote his script for Zoloft and sent him on his way. He did have one that I liked however.
I have heard that therapists that do accept insurance tend to not be as good as the ones that do not. I'm not saying this is true.. just have heard it on here and other places.
