It is a personal decision you dont have to open up no matter what. In our case hi Im mostly from the dissociative disorder forums it isnt a way to proceed. It is easy to string alone a SRA case for whatever jealous reasons. All alters arent going to relate because it is going to take a therapist and enviroment to get all out front. It is right in the guide for therapist thats why you might have thought everyone needs to get in the therapy nope it has to be gradual or there could be grave consequences...If for the reason of being on social security. If one disruptive alter covert just been secretly listening then it is jist their time they are trusting something. It is why you have to know how is front so we all don't get confused. Being extremely fragmented though is wishful thinking so as you begin to notice just pray everything is okay

I had therapist before it all blew up in our face going back to their ways. I noticed it right out the bantering she is younger she is older she is more settled. She has musical gifts in some ways vying for us our attention. Its like a mom that suddently has a mid life crisis u just wack after that barely laughable...

hi dlantern
i'm sorry to hear that your experince with your T was not entirely helpful to you or your alters (i prefer the term insiders). you are correct, when working with dissociated parts/alters, the therapist needs to proceed with patience and let each alter come out on their own time when the trust has been established, otherwise there is the potential to cause more harm if the T tries to force alters out.

it is immensely helpful when the T can understand which alter is present and interact directly with that alter because otherwise there is the potential to cause further harm or disrupt the trust formed because of the misunderstanding. did you have methods of helping your T see who was fronting in sessions? often times the switches can be very obvious to client, but quite subtle to an outsider.

how much experince of working with DID/dissociated states did this T have?
Thanks for this!

My therapist wants us to say who is present and often asks whoever is out to give their name but as far as know nobody will. It feels far too dangerous to do that. I don't know about RA but our abusers did call out alters insiders whatever so there is a terror about giving away names like it is giving a key to somebody else to lock or unlock as they please. Every time she asks for a name it is very very triggering for this system.
Are you still in therapy dlantern?
Thanks for this!
