Hi Guy`s ,
I just got home from my 5th session with my therapist and I told her I am starting to trust her. Was that wrong to say that ? I told her some very dark stuff that I have never told anyone before , but for some reason I felt she had to know in order to help me. Now I`m worried if I crossed a line or not , please comment , thanks. Keyplayer ![]() |

It's hard to tell dark things. It's normal to feel reservations about it. You haven't done anything wrong. Hang in there and take good care of yourself.

Totally ok to tell t that you are starting to trust. And it's ok if your trust level fluctuates.

This is OK but very normal to feel anxious about it - when we tell people things we may not have said before , that's our story. So I hope you can get some sleep now !

Thanks for the reply , all you guy`s are so great , I mean that. Where I am just starting to mention and talk about things I have not even thought of in literally decades , it`s a little spooky but at the same time it`s good I can finally talk about some of this junk inside. I think you didn't cross a line at all, it's a wonderful thing to tell your therapist about how you are feeling about them at the moment.
Those feelings can change--fluctuate--and tracking those changes can be revealing and useful. You can talk about anything you want in therapy and how you feel about the therapist is a legitimate and potentially incredibly useful topic of discussion. For example--if you start to feel angry at your therapist, sharing and talking about that is great. And sharing loving/close feelings is great too. Most people who go into therapy --and perhaps most people --have issues in their relationships with others and sometimes the most productive way to move forward with those is to examine the relationship that is right there in the room. |

I'm so glad you found someone you trust. You are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing in therapy. It does make one feel vulnerable to tell one's story But it sounds like it went well! When do you see her again?

Hi Monent & Anastasia~ ,
Thank you both so much for your kind and supportive replies. I see my T once a week on Wed. at first it was Tues. but she asked if it was ok to move it to Wed. after 4 weeks in , I said sure. I have read about the importance of trying to keep the same time each week to allow you to more or less to prepare for the session as well as something too look forward to. I must admit that in the back of my mind I fear that one day she might decide to leave. I understand therapy can`t go on forever , but as I mentioned to her yesterday , I would at least like to like myself and have more confidence. But there is so much stuff blocking that road that I want / must take , I just hope she is in it for the long haul so to speak. Stuff I can`t even tell myself I need to find a way to tell her so she can help me , it`s scary and exciting in a way , whats in your head !! ![]() Please know that I do not have the words of appreciation for the support I have gotten from all of you great people , I truly with all my heart mean that. ![]() Have a great evening and thanks ... again !!
