Haven't seen my T for 2 weeks, during which time I had a MH crisis and I sought help from the counsellor I'd been seeing previously (because CMHT are crap and I can't rely on them).
Psychologist started on Schema Therapy with me but then decided EMDR would be more suitable for CPTSD, we are supposed to be switching in tomorrow's session. I'm still not sure about this. Part of it I think is that I'm dubious about trying EMDR and partly because this is the 3rd break in sessions in 4 months, which is not her fault, but I find it difficult to pick up where we left off. I don't feel like we ever really got into the Schema Therapy and now we are switching modes mid stream. Perhaps Psych therapies just isn't for me and I'd be better off sticking to conventional counselling. I know working through stuff in therapy isn't supposed to be easy, but am wondering if I'm too overwhelmed with day to day ***** to be really able to benefit from it.

I remember you saying that the T can only offer a limited number of sessions and not offer outside contact - standard for the NHs I think but not how it's supposed to work for schema therapy. Maybe your T has realised this now - or maybe a supervisor pointed it out, that it's not good to do schema therapy in those conditions? I'm just guessing.
I hope EMDR is useful. I don't really know much about it (although I've had a doctor suggest that I would benefit from it). I know there are people here on the forum who have found EMDR very helpful. It's good that you could get in touch with your former counsellor when you were in a crisis. I hope you're feeling a bit better now. |
