Can anyone suggest an efficient way of finding a quality therapist if you are on medicare? Could a primary care physician help with this if it's due to an unfixable medical condition bringing on suicidal thoughts which so far have been fought off but have been getting worse as reality sets in? Sorry to be dramatic, but I'm thinking that extreme circumstances might make a difference.

Primary care doctors should be able to help you, if only by referring you to someone else who can. Finding doctors who take medicare is unfortunately hard as you know. Hospitals usually take it and if you can find someone working through a hospital (not at the hospital) you may be okay. All my three new doctors work in medical buildings affiliated with hospitals.
BUT if you're as desperate as you sound, skip all that and go to the emergency room now. |

Not sure how helpful this is but if you go to Psychology today's sight one of the options on the side is to search by insurance. Medicare is an option. On my area there are a good number of therapists who accept it.

I have very few options where I live. I have to drive 40mins to a big city to see someone with Medicare. It's hard. I wish you luck!
